Why is a start up workshop called Tech is the New Hip Hop? Workshop facilitator Alvin Singh says “because right now we are living in an era where you can bypass the old gatekeepers and take advantage of the internet in a way that previous generations didn’t have available.”

Alvin Singh is a digital strategist manager at ARS Media Group and has designed and developed mobile applications that can be found in various app stores and has been an angel investor for several successful start ups. He is the author of a book titled Manage Your Web, and has instructed an online course of the same name. His dedication to technology and entrepreneurship doesn’t stop with business enterprise; Singh also spearheaded a crowd funding campaign that reached its goal to build sustainable water pumps in rural Africa.

Born in Nashville, Singh received a B.A. in Political Science from Hampton University and a Masters in Communication in Digital Media at the University of Washington. He specializes in digital communications strategies, social media marketing, and online distribution.
