Hispanic Women’s Organization Annual Conference

September 23, 2022 @ 12:00 pm

The Keynote Speaker:

Arturo Vargas, CEO of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO), and nationally recognized expert in Latino demographic trends, electoral participation, voting rights, the Census, and redistricting issues will deliver the keynote address.

Registration is open:

Transformation: To Start Anew: Now more than ever, the current pandemic and political climate has forced people to develop their ability to transform and start anew in order to overcome the constant challenges and to advance despite adversity and create something new. This year has presented unforeseen circumstances which require some adaptation but more than that, it requires the commitment to move forward. Though it has not been an easy task, individuals and communities respond to challenges, where the only constant is change. These experiences will remain in the collective memory for generations to come, not only because it is an election year, and the redistricting based on the decennial U.S. Census, but the trying times resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.  Latinos make up 18.5% of the U.S. population, less than 10% of the U.S. House of Representatives and only 6 of 50 U.S. Senators were Latino.  In the November 2020 election, voters elected more Latinos to Congress, both Republicans and Democrats. Latinos will be present in America’s future.
