Gallery Conversation: Celebrating LGBTQ+ Artists

September 3, 2022 @ 1:00 pm 2:00 pm

Join writer Jane Blunschi for the third in a series of talks that explore the works and lives of LGBTQ+ artists in the museum’s permanent collection. This series will feature one conversation per month beginning with Pride month in June and culminating with Gay History Month in October.

This month, we’ll be celebrating Pride by focusing on the theme of Queering Home, with featured artwork by sculptor Louise Nevelson. We’ll discuss the way Nevelson’s life-long search for belonging in her personal life and artistic career influenced the development of her singular aesthetic and remarkable body of work, and draw inspiration for a brief creative writing exercise from her intense and brilliant artwork, Night Zag Wall.

About the Speaker

Jane Blunschi’s fiction writing explores issues of spirituality and domesticity through a lens of queerness. Blunschi holds an MFA in Fiction Writing from the University of Arkansas. Her collection of stories Understand Me, Sugar was published in 2017 by Yellow Flag Press, and her work has appeared in Paper Darts, SmokeLong Quarterly, and Foglifter. Blunschi lives in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
